Brian Wallace, who was the Vice President of digital marketing and media at Research In Motion (RIM), has reportedly left the company for Samsung Mobile’s Dallas office.

Wallace was hired by Samsung, the #1 phone manufacturer in North America according to comScore, to be the Vice President of strategic marketing for the United States. Instead of solely focusing on digital media, he will also dabble in branding and offline media.

The former RIM’s top digital marketer spent nearly 11 years at the Canadian manufacturer and was responsible for building sizable audiences for the company on both Facebook and Twitter.

Wallace’s departure follows former marketing chief Keith Pardy, left the company for personal reasons back in March, just over one month ahead of the launch of RIM’s iPad competitor, Playbook.

RIM was once the most dominant player in the smartphone market, but the developer of Blackberry devices and OS is currently undergoing a turbulent period. Last Thursday, the Waterloo-headquartered company saw its revenue decline in the first quarter of fiscal 2012 and said its outlook for the second quarter was lower than expected.

In a bid to curtail declining revenues, the company will reduce its workforce in the coming quarter.
